BILL DEVINE leads the Board + Management Practice. His work helps clients capitalize the link between risk recognition, value creation, and enterprise leadership.
He represents enterprises who need to negotiate radical change in the legal landscape of existing markets. He advises enterprises moving into new markets on legal risks and opportunities they will encounter.
He is also General Counsel for Institute for Social + Emotional Learning. He advises the enterprise on all legal, financial, HR and operational matters. He is co-author of the enterprise's business plan.
His experience negotiating large transactions in the commerical property industry is extensive. His advice is founded in part on significant successes in litigation and dispute resolution matters.
Bill's articles and op-ed pieces have appeared in Corporate Governance eJournal, California Lawyer, Inside HigherEd, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and University of Houston Institute for Higher Ed Law and Governance Monograph Series.
He wrote Women, Men & Money (Random House, 1998), and The Cost of a College Touchdown: A Story of Trustee Miscalculation (Smashwords, 2014).
He holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law. He is a member of the California Bar Association.
Bill is an Adjunct Professor of Management at Menlo College, where his class explores legal, societal and economic issues in management. He once coached a season of college basketball.
